The Importance of Birds
The Importance of Birds sees Snorri delve deeper into the world of orchestral darkness, where a full string orchestra soars above a gentle mixture of manipulated field recordings, piano, and a quieter string quintet.
”It's about family. Grief, solace, humility and the lack of it, writer's block, softness and failure. It's about all the small things that connect us and make life worth living, like birdwatching with your father or scheduling a joint haircut with your friend because it's kind of the only time you can really see each other these days or running into a distant cousin at a protest and for the first time realise you have more in common than you thought.”
Longer shadows, softer stones
Snorri’s debut EP with Deutsche Grammophon is Longer shadows, softer stones – 6 short pieces of music, each of which dealing with the eternal struggle between hope and surrender in its own way.
”In this music I am choosing to take on board the discomfort. Living with love, despite the pain. Hopeful, despite the horrors. Eager to make our shadows longer, our stones softer, and to get to that other side of the mountain knowing we did our part.”
I Am Weary, Don’t Let Me Rest
Production of the Year at the 2024 Icelandic Music Awards, Snorri’s 2nd full length solo album was written and recorded in an intense 3-month period in the middle of winter. I Am Weary, Don’t Let Me Rest is an expansive mixture of the soundscapes found on Snorri’s previous albums and film scores.
From the sweeping orchestral strings of Orbit, to the intimate pianos of Landbrot and Chasing the Present, and even the haunting darkness of Jaula, Snorri’s 2nd LP effortlessly balances light and dark with 9 tragically hopeful songs.
Sometimes it just takes music from the heart to create a monument not just for yourself but for an entire genre of music. As if the composer had opened a book, with light and dark chapters in life, to narrate specific events in a musical language — these are pieces of music on the verge of perfection.

Landbrot II
Snorri finishes his inward mental journey through ‘Landbrot’ with the second half of this double EP. In this set of five very personal pieces, the composer is eyeing the light at the end of the tunnel through tragic beauty, hopeful sadness, and uplifting melancholy.
Landbrot I
An introspective and personal collection of instrumental pieces, Landbrot I is the first half of a double EP which takes its name from the location of Snorri’s family cabin in rural Iceland, which he describes as his ‘happy place’. Landbrot translates to erosion or ‘land fractures’, and from this we can imagine the search for inner calm & acceptance amongst the many obstacles of daily life.
Hallgrímsson - Weder
Swiss composer Oliver Patrice Weder and Snorri became great friends while studying film scoring together at Berklee College of Music.
Then one night in late 2018 the two got together again in Amsterdam for a weekend of drinks & laughs - and accidentally recorded an improvised 3-track EP in Oliver's home studio.
It's intimate, raw, and inevitably makes you feel you're right there in the room with them.
Orbit Reworked
Orbit Reworked contains new versions of tracks from Snorri’s debut full-length album Orbit, reimagined by the hands of Luke Howard, Tom Adams, Peter Gregson and Slow Meadow.
Each composer brings their own elegant and personal touch on Snorri’s music, making these four tracks as diverse as they are beautiful.
Orbit
Orbit is Snorri’s debut album and sees the composer showcasing his diverse background with elements from electronica, choral traditions, and film music.
The result is a stunning blend of lush strings, distorted beats, intimate piano & the Snorri’s own sublime voice.
“Orbit is as close to flawless as anything that's crossed my desk this year. Musically, it's stunning. Thematically, it is dramatic without being melodramatic. Emotionally, it's sad, but never maudlin. This is the kind of record you never forget.”
